COLUMBIA, MO. – Ole Miss women’s tennis grabbed their first road win of the season, defeating Missouri, 5-3. Ludmila Kareisova continues to show she’s one of the best in the SEC with a 6-0 conference singles record.
Starting slowly on the road, Ole Miss (7-6, 1-4 SEC) lost the doubles point to Missouri (10-7, 1-4 SEC). Courts two and three lost in tight tiebreakers 7-6, but court one found a way to win. No. 59 Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher and Ludmila Kareisova broke a three-match losing streak with a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. The duo began the match down 4-1 but came back to win.
The Rebels came out firing in singles, taking the first two singles matches at the bottom of the lineup. Reka Zadori struck first with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the sixth position, then Rachel Krzyzak finished right after her with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the five spot. Ole Miss led 2-1 over the Tigers with four matches left.
The rest of the Rebels lost their first sets but went on to win their second set. Lillian Gabrielsen was the first to finish out of the four matches remaining. The senior defeated her opponent, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
The Tigers fought back at No. 1 singles by winning the tiebreaker in the third set. However, Emma Kette took care of business, taking the third set by a score of 6-4. Following right behind, Kareisova put the cherry on top with a win at No. 2 singles. The sophomore won 6-7 (1), 6-3, 7-6(1) to remain undefeated in SEC play (6-0) and extend her singles win streak to seven.
