BATON ROUGE, La. — Ole Miss women’s tennis compiled eight singles and three doubles wins. Ludmila Kareisová and Ava Hrastar earned spots in the singles and doubles quarterfinals.
Kareisová came away with two singles wins, advancing to the singles quarterfinals. The junior began her day by defeating Jacksonville State’s Dariana Prato in three sets. Kareisová fell behind 6-4 in the first set; however, she took the following two sets, giving up just one set point.
Later in the day, the All-SEC selection made quick work of Cora Barber in a 6-2, 6-3 triumph. She plays Anita Sahdiieva on Sunday morning.
Hrastar notched two victories each in three-set matches, making it to the quarterfinals. In the round of 32, the former All-American defeated Arina Gameretkaia from McNeese State, 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-5. In the next round, Hrastar dominated sets one and three with 6-2 and 6-1 scores.
The Rebels continue to fight in every match. Kelsey Mize, Rachel Krzyzak, and Briana Crowley also fell in the first set to win the next two, staying alive in the tournament. Crowley fought even further in a third-set tiebreaker, ending with a 3-6, 6-2, 7-6(0) victory. Unfortunately, all three would fall in the round of 16.
Reka Zadori did not need a third set to take down Mississippi State’s Maria Rizzolo, 6-4, 6-2.
Three Ole Miss pairings made it to the next round in doubles action. Lucie Devier and Kareisová notched their third straight doubles win by a score of 8-4. Not too long after, Emma Kette and Mize won 8-3 for Kette’s first doubles victory of the season. Hrastar and Crowley slam the door shut on day two with a dominant 8-1 triumph.
The singles quarterfinals will start day three on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the doubles quarterfinals at 2 p.m. CT.
