Women’s Tennis Ready for ITA Regionals in San Diego this Weekend


TEMPE The fall season continues for Sun Devil Women’s Tennis, which will have six student-athletes competing in San Diego at the ITA Regionals on the campuses of San Diego and San Diego State. The first round of singles play will begin on Thursday, Oct. 18, and doubles matches will commence on Friday, Oct. 19.

Aiya Nupbay, Ada Piestrzynska, Emilija Tverijonaite, Karsyn Evans, Patricija Spaka and Sara Svetac will be representing Arizona State this weekend with the regional draws available here.

Last month at the USTA InterCollegiate championships, the doubles pair of Spaka and Svetac won the doubles title, and Piestrzynska was able to win the singles title in the same tournament.

Singles Qualifying Draw: Thursday, October 17:

10:30 a.m: Aiya Nupbay (ASU) vs. Joelle Lanz (Hawaii)

With a win by Nupbay, it would move her into the round of 32 which would be played Thursday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m. AZT. The qualifying doubles draws will be announced at a later time on Thurday.
