Women's Tennis Plays at ITA Atlantic Regional Championships


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s tennis team will travel to Lynchburg, Va. to compete in the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships from Oct. 19 through Oct. 23. 
 
The Nittany Lions will compete against players from 24 different universities. Winners of the ITA Atlantic Regionals qualify for the Fall National Championships.
 
The Blue and White are taking six players from the roster to compete in the tournament. Karly Friedland, Alina Lebedeva and Jordina Cegarra will start their weekend in the qualifying round for singles. Sofiya Chekhlystova, Olivia Dorner and Yvonne Zuffova will begin play in the main draw on Oct. 20.
 
Singles and doubles will be featured in the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships. Chekhlystova and Cegarra, Friedland and Dorner, and Zuffova and Lebedeva will all be partners in doubles, respectively.

Format:

Doubles- 8 game pro-set through Quarterfinals. 2 out of 3 sets for Semifinals and Finals.

Singles- Qualifying and Consolation, 2 sets with 10-point tiebreak third set. Main, 2 out of 3 full sets.

Schedule:

Thursday October 19th:

Rounds of 64 and 32 qualifying for singles. 

Friday October 20th:

Round of 64 doubles

Round of 64 and 32 singles

Saturday October 21st: 

Round of 32 and 16 doubles

Round of 16 singles

Sunday October 22nd:

Quarterfinals and Semifinals doubles

Round of 16 singles, consolation matches

Monday October 23rd:

Finals of doubles

Semifinals and Finals of singles
