Women’s Tennis Hosts Syracuse & Boston College This Weekend


DURHAM – The Duke women’s tennis team opens a four-match homestand this weekend as the Blue Devils welcome Syracuse and Boston College to Durham.  On Friday, March 1, 18th-ranked Duke (6-4, 0-2 ACC) hosts the 46th-ranked Orange (7-2, 2-1) at 6 p.m., followed by a contest with the 55th-ranked Eagles (6-4, 1-2) on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m.
 
All of Duke’s remaining matches will be played outside at Ambler Tennis Stadium unless inclement weather forces the matches to be moved to the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.  Parking for the weekend is available in the Blue Zone. To view the map, click HERE (PDF).
 
Sunday’s match will recognize Duke’s centennial celebration, marking 100 years since Trinity College became Duke University.  The Blue Devils haven’t played a home match since January 27 and have only compete in four matches over the last 34 days.

Centennial Celebration
• In 2024, Duke celebrates its Centennial, marking one hundred years since Trinity College became Duke University. Duke will use this historic milestone to deepen the understanding of its history, inspire pride and strengthen bonds and partnerships, and prepare for a second century of continued excellence and impactful leadership. The Centennial celebration will continue into the fall with dates being announced as final schedules become available — Men’s Lacrosse (March 1), Softball (March 2), Track & Field (April 11-13), Rowing (April 26-27) and Baseball (April 27). The men’s and women’s basketball programs also will recognize the 100 years of Duke in the early months of their 2024-25 seasons.
 
The Series with Syracuse
Duke and Syracuse will square off for the 14th time in school history. The Blue Devils are a perfect 13-0 all-time in the series. The two last faced off on Mar. 24, 2023 resulting in a Duke win, 6-1.
