Women’s Tennis Have Successful First Day in Baton Rouge


BATON ROUGE, La. – Ole Miss women’s tennis excels in main singles draw at ITA South Region Championships. Seven Rebels win their first matches and advance to the second round.

After a hard-fought weekend at ITA All-Americans, No. 42 Ludmila Kareisová cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 straight-set victory over Troy’s Hagar Ramadan. The Czechia native is set to face Dariana Prato on Saturday morning.

Reka Zadori dropped her first set 6-4 but bounced back in dominant fashion, winning the following two sets 6-2. The win marks the senior’s 50th career singles win, moving her into the top-40 all-time at Ole Miss. Zadori will compete against Maria Rizzolo in the second round.

After going 3-0 at the June Stewart Invitational to begin her collegiate career, Andrea Nova grabbed another singles win over Jayna Clemens from Mississippi State.

Kelsey Mize also defeated an individual from an SEC school in straight sets. Mize took down Klara Miliceic from Alabama in a 6-4, 6-4 win—the senior matches up against Enya Ratkic on Saturday.

Rachel Krzyzak outperformed her opponent in a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Krzyzak takes on Emily Surcey from Samford in the second round.

Ava Hrastar and Briana Crowley brought their momentum from ITA All-Americans to Baton Rouge. They both took down their opponents in straight sets to advance to the next round. Hrastar won 6-2, 6-2, and Crowley notched a 6-3, 6-3 win. Hrastar will play Arina Gamretkaia, and Crowley will play Alexandra Mikhailuk in the round of 32.

The seven Rebels advancing to the next round are back at it Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. CT. Then, the four Rebel doubles teams will compete in the first round of main draw, starting at 5 p.m. CT.
