Women’s Tennis Gabrielsen Advances to ITA South Regional Singles Finals

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ole Miss women’s tennis continues to make a strong run at the ITA Southern Regional Championships as Lillian Gabrielsen won in singles in the semifinal match on Monday. The final match will be played at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday.

Gabrielsen remained undefeated in ITA play this fall by defeating Alabama’s Petra Sedlackova 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. Gabrielsen upset the tournament’s No. 2 seed in Sedlackova. This marks Gabrielsen’s second win over two ITA top-100 players (No. 54 Sedlackova and LSU’s No. 94 Safiya Carrington).

The senior Rebel took the first set after battling back from a 1-3 start to go on a streak to win the next five games and get the one-up against her SEC competitor.

The second set consisted of a back-and-forth battle for the lead with the match being in a tie five times throughout. The match was forced into a tie-breaker, but Sedlackova took the second set with a score of 7-6.

Gabrielsen didn’t back down, however, and bounced back quickly from her second set. The Oslo, Norway native came out swinging and took down her competitor 6-3 to advance her to the finals.

Gabrielsen will face LSU’s Anastasiya Komar in the championship match on Tuesday. Komar received the No. 6 seed in the event.

Gabrielsen will look to be the seventh Rebel to win the regional singles title and the first since Tiphanie Fiquet in 2021.
