SAN DIEGO – The UCLA women’s tennis team will be represented in the singles and doubles final rounds Monday at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships on the campus of San Diego State.
The Aztec Tennis Center will play host to a pair of matches featuring Kimmi Hance, who is eyeing a sweep of the titles. Hance, rated 98th in the ITA rankings, meets No. 49 Savannah Broadus at 12:30 p.m. PT for the singles crown. That will follow the 10 a.m. doubles showdown, which pits Hance and fellow sophomore Elise Wagle against No. 6 Broadus and Janice Tjen of the Waves.
En route to her spot in the singles final, Hance has registered five wins after advancing out of the first round by way of bye. She most recently took down Emma Charney of USC 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals.
Freshman Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer downed No. 38 Veronica Miroshnichenko of Loyola Marymount for a spot in the quarterfinal round, but she was upended there.
The doubles draw has seen Hance and Wagle prevail four times, with a thrilling 6-3, 5-7, 1-0(9) decision over Kailey Evans and Elizabeth Goldsmith of the University of San Diego proving their most recent victory. The Bruins knocked off No. 22 Patricija Spaka and Domenika Turkovic of Arizona State in the quarterfinals.
