TEMPE – No. 23 Arizona State women’s tennis team defeated No. 17 San Diego Toreros on Saturday afternoon behind strong performances from the Sun Devils.
Sedona Gallagher and Giulia Morlet fought in a close doubles match against their opponents, but ultimately grabbed the first doubles point for the Sun Devils. Marianna Argyrokastriti and Chelsea Fontenel battled hard, winning their match 7-5 to clinch in doubles over the Toreros.
Domenika Turkovic handily defeated De Las Heras, 6-3, 6-0, to take the first singles victory for ASU. Sedona Gallagher won straight sets, both 6-2, to win a second singles match for the Sun Devils. Giulia Morlet followed up with a victory over Colling 6-3, 6-3, giving the Sun Devils four points as a team and securing the victory for ASU. The Sun Devils defeated the Toreros, 5-2.
