Women’s Tennis Continues Action at ITA All-American in Cary


CARY, N.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team continued action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championship Thursday with both singles and doubles play at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary.
 
In singles play Thursday, Duke’s trio in the main draw round of 32 dropped their matches.  Junior Katie Codd, who is ranked No. 49, fell, 6-2, 6-2, to Tatum Evans of North Carolina.  Duke’s 38th-ranked Shavit Kimchi had a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 setback to 81st-ranked Catherine Aulia of Tennessee.  After totaling one of the biggest victories of her career the day before, 53rd-ranked Ellie Coleman dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to 69th-ranked Valerie Glozman of Stanford.
 
In the consolation round of 32, 41st-ranked Emma Jackson collected a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3 win over 57th-ranked Ava Hrastar of Auburn, while 73rd-ranked Eleana Yu fell, 6-0, 6-4, to 63rd-ranked Esha Velaga of Penn. 
 
After totaling round of 32 wins in doubles the day before, both of Duke’s remaining doubles duos fell in their matches Thursday.  Yu and Jackson fell, 6-2, 6-4, to 15th-ranked Kimmi Hance and Elise Wagle, while Coleman and Kimchi dropped a 6-2, 6-4 match to sixth-ranked Oyinlomo Quadre and Katerina Mandelikova. 
 
Duke will continue play Friday in the consolation rounds.
