CARY, N.C.- Arizona wrapped up their weekend at the ITA All-American Championships.
Sunday
Sunday morning Castillo pulled off a straight set win against Kennedy Gibbs (Baylor) with a score of 7-5, 6-3. Later that afternoon Castillo went on to play Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo (Texas) where she fell in a third-set breaker 2-6, 6-7, 6-7(4).
After Saturday’s retirement Narendran entered the consolation draw where she fell to Scarlett Nicholson (Georgia Tech) 6-1, 4-6, 2-6. Ostrzygalo also dropped her consolation match in a battle against Na Dong of Baylor 6-7(0), 2-6.
Saturday
Arizona kicked off the pre qualifying round of singles Saturday morning. Wildcat Midori Castillo came out on top 6-3, 7-6(2), over Marcela Lopez of OSU. Martyna Ostrzygalo fell to Xinyi Nong 7-5, 6-3. Tanvi Narendran was forced to retire from her match against Tianna Rengan at 6-7(5), 6-4, 1-4.
The Cats will be back in action for another chance to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships Oct.17-22 at ITA Southwest Regionals.
