Women’s Tennis Climbs to No. 17 in ITA Rankings – Women’s Tennis — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

No. 20 Women’s Tennis Knocks Off No. 6 Duke, 4-3 – Women's Tennis — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis jumped three spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings on Tuesday, moving to No. 17. Additionally, the Yellow Jackets continue to boast four individuals in the singles rankings, including two in the top 30 nationally.

Coming off a run to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament semifinals, Georgia Tech picked up a pair of wins to open postseason play. The Yellow Jackets upended No. 6 Duke in the quarterfinals to clinch a spot on Saturday after defeating Syracuse, 4-0, in second round action to meet the Blue Devils. Freshman Alejandra Cruz collected a pair of singles victories in the tournament, including the clinching match against Syracuse. Tech’s win against Duke came down to the final match where Kylie Bilchev remained in control, pocketing a straight-set victory at No. 2 to upend the Blue Devils, 4-3.

Also released on Tuesday were the latest individual rankings as Tech placed four Yellow Jackets in the top 110 in the singles poll. Carol Lee continues to lead Georgia Tech with a No. 15 singles ranking, followed by Bilchev at No. 27, Mahak Jain at No. 98 and Cruz at No. 110. All four Jackets boast double-figure dual singles wins this season, paced by Bilchev’s team-high 18.

Georgia Tech will await the NCAA Tournament selection show, which will air on NCAA.com on Monday, May 1 at 6 p.m.
