WOMEN’S TENNIS CENTRAL - No. 20 Tennessee at UCF, Florida State


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 20th-ranked Tennessee women’s tennis team will travel to Florida for a pair of matches to round out its non-conference slate. The Lady Volunteers will take on UCF on Friday at 6 p.m., at the UTSA National Campus, before heading to Tallahassee to face Florida State on Sunday at noon in the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

Last time out, Tennessee (6-2) posted a convincing 7-0 shutout win against ETSU (1-4) on Saturday at Goodfriend Tennis Center. The Lady Volunteers powered past the Buccaneers for the 16th time in as many opportunities in program history, including the 11th time on Rocky Top.

The Lady Vols grabbed the doubles point in a quick affair over the Buccaneers. Lauren Anzalotta and Catherine Aulia tallied the first win over Alessandra Caceres and Sofia Markova, 6-1. Leyla Britez Risso and Eleonora Molinaro picked up their third consecutive win by defeating Ralitsa Alexandrova and Jana Rovira, 6-2. The Lady Vols landed the doubles point for the seventh time this season.

In singles action, the Big Orange posted six straight wins to complete the match. No. 125 Anzalotta logged her first shutout of the season by downing Jana Rovira, 6-0, 6-0. 

Including the 7-0 win over the Buccaneers, Tennessee has registered four shutout victories during its eight matches so far this season. 

Tennessee secured five straight triumphs to start the season, defeating Furman, Chattanooga, Wake Forest, Bellarmine and No. 25 Vanderbilt. It marked the first time since 2018 the team opened a season with a 5-0 start, including the third time in the Alison Ojeda era.


Milestone Tracker:

Over the weekend, the Lady Vols achieved a collection of milestones. Esther Adeshina earned her 60th career singles win. Catherine Aulia notched her 20th career singles win and 20th career doubles win. Leyla Britez Risso registered her seventh consecutive doubles win, including her fourth this season. Britez Risso also secured her third straight win partner Eleonora Molinaro; the duo remains undefeated on the season.
