Women’s Tennis Central: NCAA College Station Super Regional

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The 14th-ranked Tennessee women’s tennis team hits the road for its final true road match of the season as it travels to No. 2 Texas A&M for the Super Regional round of the 2023 NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament which is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Friday, May 12 at Mitchell Tennis Center.

The Lady Volunteers (21-5, 11-2 SEC) advanced out of the regional round of the tournament for the first time since 2010 and are looking for more in what has been a historic 2023 campaign. Tennessee will have a tough task at hand with Texas A&M who won the conference with an unbeaten regular season. The Aggies have lost just two matches all year, the ITA Indoor National Championship match to North Carolina and the SEC Tournament Finals to Georgia just three weeks ago.

HEAD COACH ALISON OJEDA

“Our team was practicing yesterday and we all took a moment to remember that there are only 16 other teams in the country that get to run a team practice like we do this weekend. That’s important to remember this time of year and it is worth mentioning because our team has worked so hard to earn the opportunities they continue to give themselves.”

“We are thrilled to be in College Station for the Round of 16. This is a very familiar place for us and our team is ready to compete tomorrow.”

Texas A&M is led by Mary Stoiana who has 23 dual match singles wins. She also leads the Aggies in singles winning percentage at .920 (Min. 10 dual matches played).
