THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team is readying for a fall tournament slate that features five events to help the Yellow Jackets prepare for the dual match spring slate.
Tech will open the fall slate with a return trip to the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic, Sept. 15-17 in Greenville, S.C. The Yellow Jackets will continue fall preparation the following weekend at the College Ranked Spotlight, Sept. 21-24, hosted by NC State.
Following two tournaments, select individuals will qualify for the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., Sept. 30-Oct. 8. A premier Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) event, the tournament features the nation’s top NCAA Division I women’s tennis players competing for the title.
The team will then head to Gainesville, Fla., for the 2023 edition of ITA Southeast Regionals, Oct. 19-23. Each Division I regional will advance the doubles champions and singles champions and finalists to the pinnacle fall tournament, the ITA National Fall Championships. The grand finale to the fall tennis season will take place, Nov. 1-5 in San Diego, Calif. Select team members will finish the fall season at the Miami Invite, Nov. 3-5.
Georgia Tech returns six letterwinners from last season’s squad that went 16-10 overall, advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Championship and second round of the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, the Yellow Jackets added three newcomers to the roster.
