NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Wisconsin men’s tennis team (1-10, 0-0 Big Ten) lost to the No. 70 Yale Bulldogs (7-3, 0-0 Ivy), 6-1, in its first match of the weekend, Friday, March 1.
Wisconsin was forced to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match due to injury, leaving Michael Minasyan/Matthew Fullerton and the No. 1 match and Collin Beduhn/Gabriel Huber at the No. 2 match. The No. 2 match finished first, as Beduhn/Huber were defeated by Theo Dean/Aidan Reilly, 6-2.
Heading into singles play, the Badgers had to forfeit both the No. 5 and 6 singles matches. Huber and Beduhn both fell in straght sets, giving Yale the 4-0 advantage and ultimately the win. Fullerton won his math after his opponent, Eric Li retired in the second set, leaving Minasyan vs. Gogineni at the No. 1 singles match remaining. After losing the first set 6-2, set two was close and ultimately went into a tiebreak.
Up Next: Wisconsin remains on the East Coast to take on Princeton on Sunday, March 3. First serve will be at 11 pm from Princeton, N.J.
