SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 4 Stanford opened the spring season with a 5-2 victory over San Diego at the Toreros’ Hogan Tennis Center on Friday.
The Cardinal rolled through the first five points, taking the doubles point behind 6-4 wins from Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova on court two and Katherine Hui and Valencia Xu on court three.
Singles victories came from Connie Ma on court two, 6-1, 6-2, Alexandra Yepifanova on court three, 6-4, 6-4, and the clincher from Alexis Blokhina on court four, 6-1, 7-5. The remaining three matches were played out, with Angelica Blake nabbing the win on one, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7.
Stanford is back in action on Sunday, Jan. 14, playing No. 2 Texas A&M in a neutral-site contest in USD.
