Previously On- Last season the Cats traveled to Tempe, Ariz., taking on the Sun Devils and securing a 4-2 takedown. The victory extended Arizona’s win streak over Arizona State to three. The Wildcats were quick to secure the doubles point and Captain Nick Lagaev clinched the match at six singles with a straight-set victory 7-6(5), 7-5.
In the Rankings- Arizona keeps their momentum in the top ten, ranking ninth as a team. The Cats hold three singles rankings and two doubles rankings going into this weekend’s match up with No.14 Colton Smith, No.31 Jay Friend, No.73 Gustaf Strom in singles rankings and No.17 Smith/Friend and No.79 Smith/Herman Hoeyeraal for doubles rankings. Arizona State holds steady in the top 25 at No.21. No.8 Murphy Cassone and No.97 Bor Artnak represent the Sun Devils in the individual rankings.
