What a Run: Krawczyk/Collins Fall Short in Semis at Wimbledon

LONDON — What a run it was for Desirae Krawczyk at Wimbledon.

After capturing the fourth Grand Slam title of her career Thursday alongside Neal Skupski in Mixed Doubles, the former Sun Devil was on the doorstep of the Women’s Doubles final on Friday. Krawczyk and partner Danielle Collins were bested in the semifinal to top-seeded Elise Mertens and Shuai Zhang in a three-set battle, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6.

The 2016 ASU alumna was vying to become the first person to win two titles at the same Wimbledon since Serena Williams in 2016 (singles and doubles). Martina Hingis was last to win both Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles (2015) at Wimbledon.

Reactions around the tennis world following Krawczyk/Skupski’s Mixed Doubles title

The Krawczyk/Collins duo had reached the semifinals after toppling Alicja Rosolska/Erin Routliffe, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3.
