CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team moved up one place in this week’s ITA rankings, checking in at No. 13 in the country.
This is the fifth straight week the Hurricanes are in the top 15 and the sixth straight week they are in the top 20.
Miami (13-5, 8-3 ACC) won both of its matches last week, wrapping up its regular season home slate with a 7-0 sweep of Louisville and a 5-2 triumph over then-No. 23 Notre Dame, Thursday and Saturday, respectively, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes are one of 12 ACC teams in the top 45 of the ITA rankings, eight of which are in the top 30, with six in the top 20 and five in the top 15. Miami is joined by top-ranked North Carolina, third-ranked Duke, eighth-ranked NC State, ninth-ranked Virginia, No. 20 Georgia Tech, No. 27 Notre Dame, No. 28 Wake Forest, No. 33 Florida State, No. 36 Syracuse, No. 37 Clemson and No. 41 Boston College.
In singles, the Hurricanes once again have three ranked players. Redshirt sophomore Alexa Noel is in the top 10 for the second straight week, placing eight nationally, while junior Isabella Pfennig sits at No. 81 and fifth-year senior Daevenia Achong comes in at No. 109.
Additionally, Miami again has a trio of ranked doubles duos. Achong and Noel lead the way at No. 30, while Noel is also ranked in the next spot, holding the No. 31 position with Pfennig. Achong and fourth-year junior Maya Tahan are ranked No. 46.
Miami starts the final weekend of the regular season in Clemson, S.C., where it plays Friday at 3 p.m. against No. 37 Clemson.
