The Vols recorded their first win of the day in doubles play as James Newton and Chris Li took down Jonas Gundaacker and Takeyasu Sekiguchi of Texas Tech 6-0, 7-6(5).
Tennessee earned a trio of victories against Baylor on the singles courts. No. 66 Shunsuke Mitsui won a first-set tiebreaker to rout Louis Bowden 7-5, 6-3. After falling in the first set, Newton won a second-set tiebreaker to force a third set, defeating Martin Breysach 4-6 7-6, 6-1. Li overcame a first-set loss to take down Marko Miladinovic in 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
