Vols Collect Eight Wins on Day Two of Orlando Fall Shootout


ORLANDO, Fla – The Tennessee men’s tennis team accounted for eight total wins Saturday at the Orlando Fall Showdown, with its primary opponent on day two of the event being Texas A&M.
 

In doubles action to start the day, the Vols took two of three matches over Texas A&M, with senior Blaise Bicknell and sophomore Gabriele Brancatelli winning 6-3 over Texas A&M’s Pierce
Rollins and Luke Casper. On court one, graduate student Kent Hunter and sophomore Shunsuke Mitsui defeated Raphael Perot and Kenner Taylor in 6-4 fashion.
 

Play against the Aggies continued with six singles matches to cap the morning session. No. 82 Mitsui defeated Giulio Perego on court two, 7-6(5), 6-1 and No. 94 Hunter earned a 6-4, 7-6(3) win over Texas A&M’s Casper. Court five saw senior Angel Diaz take down Mathis Bondaz, 6-1, 6-2, while graduate student Tomas Rodriguez battled past Matthis Ross, 6-4, 7-5.
 
In the afternoon, Brancatelli won a third-set super tiebreaker over Tulsa’s Gus Tettamble, taking the match 6-3, 4-6. 1-0(10-3). Hunter capped off the day with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Francisco Pini.
