Virginia Women's Tennis | Natasha Subhash Top 30 Finalist for NCAA Woman of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS – The Woman of the Year Selection Committee announced that Virginia women’s tennis alumna Natasha Subhash has been named a national Top 30 honoree for the 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Selected from over 600 nominees submitted by member schools — a group that was then narrowed to 164 nominees at the conference level — the Top 30 honorees include 10 from each of the three NCAA divisions.

Subhash is just the fourth student-athlete in Virginia history to be named to the Top 30, joining 1998 NCAA Woman of the Year Peggy Boutilier (lacrosse/field hockey), 1999 finalist Charlotte Davis Quesada (rowing) and 2010 Top-30 honoree Mei Christensen (swimming).

The selection committee will determine three honorees from each NCAA division for a total of nine finalists. The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will choose the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year from those finalists.

The NCAA Woman of the Year will be named, and the Top 30 will be celebrated at the NCAA Convention in January.

Established in 1991, the award is rooted in Title IX and recognizes female student-athletes who have completed their undergraduate studies and distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics throughout their college careers.

Subhash graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce in 2023 and a Master’s Degree in Accounting in 2024.

During her time at UVA, Subhash achieved numerous academic and athletic honors. She was recognized as a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree, a five-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, a five-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member, and a three-time recipient of UVA’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. She was also awarded the 2023 Walter B. Doggett Accounting Award from the McIntire School of Commerce for her exceptional academic performance in accounting.

Subhash made significant contributions to the UVA women’s tennis program. She concluded her career as a four-time ITA All-American and received the 2022 Ralph Sampson Scholarship Award for…
