CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s tennis student-athletes Julia Adams and Mélodie Collard were named 2023 NCAA Division I ITA Doubles All-Americans in honors announced today (June 5) by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The honorific All-American title is given to student-athletes that earn a top 16 seed in the NCAA singles championship, advance to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship or finish in the top 20 of the final ITA singles rankings. The All-American status is awarded to doubles teams that earn a top-eight seed into the NCAA championship, reach the NCAA championship quarterfinals, or finish in the top 10 of the final ITA doubles rankings.
Adams and Collard, who finished the year ranked No. 6 in the ITA doubles rankings advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship. It was the second time in program history that a Cavalier duo has advanced to the semifinals, matching the run of Rosie Johanson and Emma Navarro in 2021.
Adams and Collard finished the season with a record of 24-6 as a doubles team. This is the first All-America honor for both.
With this year’s designations, 11 different Cavaliers have combined to earn 23 singles and doubles All-America honors in the program’s history.
