CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s tennis junior Iñaki Montes has been named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (March 28) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Montes picked up a pair of victories on the top singles court last week, winning in straight sets against No. 70 Ryan Fishback of Virginia Tech and Boston College’s Max Motlagh. On Sunday, he clinched UVA’s victory at No. 13 Harvard with a 6-4, 6-4 victory against No. 30 Harris Walker.
This is the third time this season that a Cavalier has been named the ACC Player of the Week. Chris Rodesch earned the honor on Jan. 24 and March 5. This is the third time in his career that Montes has been named the ACC Player of the Week, earning it once in his freshman season and once last year. He also has twice been named part of the ACC Doubles Team of the Week.
