NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team is back at home this weekend to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks on Friday and Mizzou on Sunday.
Last weekend the Commodores competed on the road, facing No. 13 Texas A&M on Friday afternoon. After slipping up in doubles, the Dores fell to the Aggies 0-7. Sunday’s matchup against LSU began when Vanderbilt claimed the early advantage, winning the doubles point and going on to win the match, posting a 4-3 victory over the Tigers.
The Commodores are 9-5 this season and 4-3 in conference play, coming in at No. 27 in the latest ITA rankings with two student-athletes ranked nationally for singles, as well as two doubles teams.
Arkansas
The Razorbacks (9-8, 2-5 SEC) are coming off a weekend at home where they competed against No. 12 Florida on Friday and No. 15 South Carolina on Sunday. The Hogs, ranked 40th in the ITA, split their matches, losing 6-1 to the Gators and then picking up a win against South Carolina, posting a 4-1 score. In this week’s ITA rankings, the Razorbacks boast two doubles duos ranked nationally at No. 36 and No. 39, with two student athletes ranked in singles as well.
Mizzou
Missouri (4-15) is 0-7 in conference play so far. The Tigers are also coming off a weekend at home, where they lost matches on Friday and Sunday. Friday’s matchup was against No. 16 South Carolina, and Missouri lost 4-0. No. 33 Florida was Sunday’s competitor, and the Tigers fell 4-0 to the Gators.
Home Match Notes
Because of construction around Vanderbilt athletic facilities, all outdoor competitions for the spring 2024 season will be played at the Ensworth Tennis Center, about 20 minutes from campus at 7405 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221. In case of rain, matches will be moved indoors to the Ensworth facility and admission is free. Vanderbilt tennis matches will enforce a clear bag policy.
