NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The ITA announced the 2023–24 Division I Women’s tennis All-Americans on Thursday, and among them were Commodores Célia-Belle Mohr and Anessa Lee.
All-American honors are awarded to student-athletes who earn a top 16 seed into the NCAA Singles Championship and advance to the round of 16, or who finish in the top 20 of the final ITA Singles Rankings. Additionally, All-America recognition is given to doubles teams that earn a top eight seed into the NCAA Championship, advance to the quarterfinals or finish in the top 10 in the final ITA National Doubles Rankings.
Rising senior Célia-Belle Mohr was named to the Division I Women’s Singles All-American list, as well as the Division I Women’s Doubles All-American list alongside graduate Anessa Lee.
In the NCAA singles championships, Mohr defeated No. 40 Dana Guzman when her Sooner opponent retired to advance to the round of 32. The following day Mohr took on Gala Mesochoritou, ranked 57th, and defeated the Michigan adversary in two sets to secure her spot in the round of 16. In the third round, Mohr went up against Oklahoma State’s then-No. 3 Ange Oby Kajuru in a tight match, taking the victory and advancing to the quarterfinals. Mohr fell in the quarterfinals to Georgia’s Anastasiia Lopata in two sets to end her run at the singles championship.
Primarily competing in the No. 1 position for Vanderbilt this season, Mohr accumulated 33 singles wins and defeated 16 nationally ranked opponents. She finished the season ranked No. 6 nationally by the ITA. She and Lee went 29-13 in doubles and finished No. 20 in the nation. They racked up eight wins over nationally ranked rivals.
Mohr and Lee claimed wins over Pennsylvania’s then-No. 62 duo in the first round and Stanford’s 10th-ranked pair in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, they upset Oklahoma State’s Anastasiya Komar and Kajuru, ranked No. 3 in the nation at the time, and claimed a victory in a tiebreak. The Dores were taken down in the semifinals and fell in two sets to Georgia’s Aysegul Mert and Dasha Vidmanova.
