Vanderbilt Women's Tennis | Dores Continue Strong Play

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ­– Day 2 of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship was highlighted by one doubles team and four individuals in singles advancing for the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team.

In singles, Sonya Macavei, Anessa Lee, Holly Staff and Celia-Belle Mohr all went 2-0 on Friday. All four now advance to the quarterfinals. For Macavei and Mohr, they are now tied for the team lead with 11 singles wins on the season.

Marcella Cruz and Macavei played their way to another doubles win on Friday, taking down East Tennessee State’s Yunuen Elizarraras and Mariya Shumeika, 8-4. The duo will play in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT in Knoxville.

The ITA Regional Championship continues on Saturday.
