NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three members of the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team were recognized on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District honorees.
Anessa Lee, Holly Staff and Bridget Stammel were among the NCAA women’s tennis players around the country who qualified for this award, competing in more than half of the season’s matches while maintaining a GPA above 3.5.
Lee, a senior from San Marino, California, went 14-12 overall this season, and this marks her second consecutive year to earn CSC Academic All-District honors. Her highest singles ranking was No. 119, and her highest doubles ranking was No. 16 with partner Celia-Belle Mohr. In 2022, Lee earned a spot on the All-SEC second team and on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. As a freshman, she made the 2021 SEC All-Freshman Team and the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll. Lee has participated in community service activities with organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Jones Paideia Elementary School and Vanderbilt women’s tennis’ Love Serving Autism clinic.
Staff, a senior from Manchester, England, ended this season with a 30-11 overall record. This will also be her second year in a row to earn CSC Academic All-District honors. Alongside Célia-Belle Mohr, the duo secured the No. 53 spot in the latest ITA rankings and helped the Commodores advance to the 2024 NCAA Super Regionals. In 2022, Staff was named an All-American in doubles, an All-SEC second-team member and an SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree. Staff has committed to serve the community with her work at the Jones Paideia Elementary School as a tutor, Habitat for Humanity, participating in Vanderbilt’s National Day of Service and Nashville’s Fed by Faith organization.
Stammel, a sophomore from Dallas, Texas, earned a No. 23 ranking in singles this season. In 2023 she was named to the All-Freshman Team and First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll and was named an SEC Freshman of the Week. Off the court, she is involved in Pi Beta Phi, Vanderbilt’s Be an Anchor program, and has volunteered in her free time at Jones Paideia elementary school.
