Utah Men's Tennis Claims 4-0 Victory at Loyola Marymount


LOS ANGELES – The University of Utah Men’s Tennis team continued its road stint with its match against Loyola Marymount today, sweeping the Lions 4-0 to add to its current five-game win streak. The Utes improved to 8-2 on the season.

The Utes were able to clinch the doubles points with confidence as Francisco Bastias and Bruno Caula finished first on court three to defeat Alex Padro Parra and John Bryan Otico, 6-1. Following closely behind them, Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Espin Busleiman claimed victory against LMU players, Arthur Pantino and Toky Ranaivo, with a matching score of 6-1.

Utah started singles off on the right foot with Patrik Trhac coming out on top on court five in singles play against Ranaivo, 6-0, 6-1. On court six, Mateo Julio lengthened the Utes lead after earning their third point against Alvaro Gonzalez, 6-2, 6-3. Espin Busleiman clinched the match for Utah on court one against Yassine Smiej, 6-3, 6-2. All other matches were left unfinished.

Utah men’s tennis is coming back home to host Denver on Saturday, Feb 25 at 12 p.m. at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
