Utah Falls to UNLV in 3-4 Match

Las Vegas, Nev. – The Utah men’s tennis team took on UNLV in a road match this afternoon. The Utes secured the doubles point but were unable to hold the advantage and fell 4-3 to the Rebels.

During doubles play the Rebels were the first to gain control on court three. Despite dropping the third court, the Utes took the upper hand as Jayson Blando and Michael Blando downed the UNLV duo on court two in a 7-5 match. Soon after, Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Bruno Krenn also took the victory at the No. 1 spot, finishing 6-4 and granting Utah the first point of the match.

As the match moved to doubles the Utah squad looked to obtain the three courts needed for a clinch. The Rebels tied the match 1-1 after securing a point on court five.

Utah’s second point came on court six where Michael Blando defeated UNLV’s Thomas Navarro in a 6-3, 6-4 win. The Rebels tied once more after controlling court two. The Utes lost the advantage and were in a one-point deficit after losing court four.

Utah’s third point came on court one after Espin Busleiman battled into a third set, downing Anton Ornberg in an impressive 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 match. Despite the team’s effort, the match was clinched on three as UNLV took the victory.
