The University of Utah men’s tennis team celebrated senior day Sunday afternoon in a match against the Arizona State Sun Devils. The Utes were able to down ASU 4-2 in their final home match of the season.
Utah battled in the doubles but dropped the advantage point to ASU. Patrik Trhac and Berk Burgarikj were defeated by Sun Devils Constantinos Koshis and Jacob Bullard, 6-2. No. 3 team, Fransisco Bastias and Bruno Caula finished closely afterward, losing to Nicola Cigna and Roi Ginat, 6-3, allowing ASU to take the singles point. Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Espin Busleiman’s match was left unfinished.
The Utes began to turn their luck around with singles when Burgarikj tied up the score with his victory over Ginat, 6-1, 6-1. Trhac took the lead for Utah after winning 6-3, 6-4 against Spencer Brachman in the No. 6 spot. Bastias then defeated Koshis, 6-2, 6-4, for the team’s third point.
Capalbo was unable to down Cassone, losing to him 3-6, 7-6(6), 1-6. After a grueling three sets, Busleiman clinched the match for Utah on court two against McKennon with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 score. Caula’s match was left unfinished, but Utah walked away with the 4-2 win.

Utah men’s tennis heads to Los Angeles for their last set of matches before heading to the Pac-12 championship tournament. The Utes will play UCLA on Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m and USC the following day also at 2 p.m.
