USC Men's Tennis Sends Trio to ITA Southwest Regional Championships

Men’s Tennis | October 15, 2024

LOS ANGELES – USC men’s tennis will return to action this weekend, with three players heading to the ITA Southwest Regional Championships to bid for a spot in the NCAA singles and doubles championships starting Thursday, Oct. 17 through Tuesday, Oct. 22 in Tempe, Ariz.

After a red-hot start to the season, freshman Niels Hoffmann will lead the Trojans heading into the event. Hoffmann is 7-1 this fall and will enter the tournament as a ninth seed, getting an automatic bye into the round of 32. This will be Hoffmann’s first chance at trying to secure an NCAA singles championship berth. Hoffmann will be joined in the singles competition by graduate student Tristan Bradley. Bradley has had a solid start to his first Division I season, going 5-3 to lock in an eight seed and an automatic bye into the second round.

Rounding out the team will be senior Karl Lee, who will be pairing up with Bradley on the doubles side. The pair entered the competition as a ninth seed and automatically qualified for the second round. While the two have yet to pair up this season, Bradley is 4-3 in doubles play with other partners this fall.

Last season, the USC men’s tennis team recorded 12 wins at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship, led by a semifinal performance from senior Peter Makk. Lee is the only player to compete in the tournament for the second straight year.

Tournament play will kick off on Thursday, October 17. Bradley will play his round of 32 match at 12:00 p.m., while Hoffmann will take the court at 1:30 p.m. The doubles team will start play on Saturday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. To follow along with the schedule and results, visit here.
