LOS ANGELES – USC men’s tennis struggled to find its mark in the makeup game dual against Pepperdine, as it fell 4-1 on Friday, March 8 at Marks Tennis Stadium.
After battling the weather on Thursday, the Trojans resumed their match against the Waves in Day 2 of action. For this matchup, that meant they would be starting at the tail end of doubles, with a chance to secure the doubles point with a win at the No. 1 spot. However, the doubles pair of junior Peter Makk and senior Lodewijk Weststrate could not get past the tiebreak as Pepperdine struck first.
USC headed into singles trailing, and continued a slow start as they went down in five of the six matches after the first set. Junior Karl Lee was the lone Trojan to make it through the first set ahead and continued that as he was the first singles competitor to finish with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. That would be the lone point of the match for USC, as they fell in three straight after that point and went unfinished at the No. 3 and No. 5 spot.
The Trojans return to action to face Stanford at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 10 in Palo Alto, Calif.
