Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz were defeated by the American duo of Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek in quarterfinal action on Wednesday, ending Nadal’s legendary Olympic career.

His US Open career may be over as well, as the Spaniard hinted that he is leaning against playing in New York this summer.

“Looks like not but I’m gonna let you know soon,” four-time US Open champion Nadal said when asked if he would be playing at the last Grand Slam tournament of the year. “For me, now, I can’t give you a clear answer, I need some time. But for me, looks difficult.”

Nadal, who lost in second round action to Novak Djokovic at the Olympics, is slated to play the Laver Cup in Berlin, which takes place from September 20-22.

The 38-year-old Spaniard, currently ranked 161, has gone 12-7 in singles in 2024 thus far.

The 22-time major champion went 9-5 on his beloved clay, reaching the round of 16 in Madrid and the final at Bastad.

Nadal said he is still unsure about making a return to Roland-Garros, where he is a 14-time champion, next year.

“If that’s the last time (at RG) for me, it’s an unforgettable feeling and emotions. They give me the love and support every single second that I have been on court,” He said.
