CARY, N.C. – Two separate pairs are set to represent Clemson in the doubles quarterfinals at the ITA Regional as the Tigers wrap up the third day of competition.
“Great to see two of our teams progress into the next round of doubles. We are taking steps in the right direction in this area. The guys are excited about the opportunity tomorrow. It has been a very valuable event for us thus far,” Head Coach Brandon Wagner said.
The first duo to secure a victory in the round of 16 was Stewart Aronson and Spencer Whitaker as they took down Gardner-Webb’s Jurie Terblanche and Numa Lemieux-Monette 8-5. Aronson and Whitaker will now prepare to take on North Carolina State’s Joseph Wayand and Marti Borisiouk in Monday’s quarterfinals.
In a tie-breaking victory for Marko Mesarovic and Matt Pitts, the pair was able to earn the win against Campbell’s Damien Nezar and Benjamin Maes (8(9)-7(7)). The victory secured Mesarovic and Pitt’s spot in the quarterfinals where they will face-off against Wake Forest’s Harry Thursfield and Luca Pow.
The Tiger pairings will compete in their respective quarterfinal matches tomorrow, October 23rd at 12:00 p.m. as Clemson will look to advance to the semifinals. For the most updated information on draws and results, visit the ITA tournament site here.
