SEATTLE – Two road tests take the Husky men’s tennis team to Arkansas and Oklahoma this week as the Dawgs go after what would be signature non-conference wins in Fayetteville and Stillwater. Washington (4-1) takes on Arkansas (9-1) first on Friday, Feb. 10, then two days later meets Oklahoma State (5-2) on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Match time against the Razorbacks is set for 3 p.m. Pacific. Arkansas already has 10 matches under its belt, starting with a 4-3 road win at San Diego State on Jan. 13. They took their first loss to Northwestern in ITA Kickoff Weekend in Michigan, then got a 4-1 win over Cal Poly in the second match. Melvin Manuel is 7-0 in singles for Arkansas at the No. 2 and 3 spots and Gerard Planelles is 8-1 at 4-5-6. No Razorbacks are currently ranked. Washington had a 2-5 loss at Arkansas in 2021.

Sunday’s match in Stillwater starts at 9 a.m. Pacific. Oklahoma State won its first five matches without losing a point, but then dropped two 4-0 matches during ITA Kickoff Weekend against ranked North Carolina and Columbia squads in Chapel Hill, N.C. No Cowboys are currently in the ITA rankings. Tyler Zink was ranked 122nd in the final 2022 season rankings.

These will be the first true road matches for the Dawgs, having played two neutral site matches in Kentucky and going 1-1. Washington is coming off a 4-0 win over Boise State at home on Feb. 2. Freshman Brett Pearson got his first singles dual win and first clinch in that match, while Cesar Bouchelaghem improved to 5-0 in singles play. Dzianis Zhayrn is also 4-0 at No. 2 singles with a DNF last time out while leading.
