San Diego – The fourth day of action at ITA Regionals in San Diego featured sophomore Emilija Tverijonaite moving into the semifinals at ITA Regionals after winning in straight sets over Emma Charney, 6-1, 7-6 (4).
Tverijonaite will look to move into the finals and clinch an NCAA singles tournament birth with a win tomorrow. The Lithuanian will face off against the No. 2 seed Amelia Honer of UCSB at 12:30 p.m. AZT.
Sara Svetac put up a valiant effort in her quarterfinal match against No. 1 Savannah Broadus of Pepperdine but fell 4-6, 5-7.
In singles play, Aiya Nupbay won her fourth singles match of the weekend, winning in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. Senior Patricija Spaka won in straight sets, winning 12 of 14 games, 6-1, 6-1. Denver transfer Karsyn Evans also won in straight sets today, 6-0, 7-6 (1).
In doubles action, Spaka/Nupbay won their extra doubles match 6-3 over the pair Costa/Franco of Long Beach State. Ada Piestrzynska and Karsyn Evans fell in their doubles match 4-6.
