Los Angeles – Trojans Eryn Cayetano and Stefan Dostanic shoot up the rankings to hail as number one in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings as announced by the ITA on Tuesday, September 6.

This isn’t the first time two Trojans have topped the rankings, with Steve Johnson and Maria Sanchez both holding the No. 1 singles rankings on March 15 & March 29, 2011.

In singles, senior Cayetano claimed the top spot in the preseason rankings. The rising senior was the 2021 ITA National Fall Singles Champion while in the spring. She earned ITA All-American honors in singles after finishing No. 3 in the final Division I Women’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Rankings.

Reaching the Quarterfinals of the 2022 NCAA Singles Championship, Cayetano was one of only five collegiate women’s players to be selected to the 2022 USTA Collegiate Summer Team. Playing in numerous ITF Tournaments over the summer, Cayetano took home two 15K Championships, earning her highest-ranked win over the No. 580 ranked player in the WTA Singles Rankings at the ITF 15K in Cancun.

The top spot in the September 6th men’s preseason singles rankings went to Trojan Stefan Dostanic, who reached new heights in the 2021-22 season. Finishing 39-6 from the No. 1 singles position, Dostanic was named the 2022 Pac-12 Player of the Year, an ITA All-American in both Singles and Doubles, while also being selected as the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year.

Dostanic, who played on the USTA Collegiate Summer Team this past summer, was one of just five collegiate men’s players chosen in part of this program. Dostanic gained valuable experience in ITF events, including two finals appearances at the 25k Tournaments in Tulsa and Champaign.

USC also saw another seven Trojans in the preseason singles rankings, with Snow Han (No. 65) and Naomi Cheong (No. 85) making the women’s list, while Peter Makk (No. 41), Bradley Frye (#44), Lodewijk Weststrate (No. 76), Ryan Colby (#110) and Wojtek Marek (No. 113) represented Troy in the men’s rankings.

In doubles, Stefan and Bradley start the year ranked No. 2 while Peter and Lodewijk check in at No. 36. These four Trojans were All-Americans last season, finishing the year ranked No. 67 and No. 87, respectively.
