Trio of Wolverines Grab NCAA Berths

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Kari Miller, Jaedan Brown and Julia Fliegner of the No. 5-ranked University of Michigan women’s tennis team received berths to the NCAA Singles Championship, with Brown and Miller earning the No. 2 seed for the NCAA Doubles Championship as selections were announced on Tuesday (May 2) by the NCAA.
This is the second time in program history that Michigan has sent three singles participants to the championship after U-M had three in 2019. Brown and Miller are the first U-M doubles team to go to the tournament since 2019.
Miller grabbed her third NCAA singles bid, becoming the fifth Wolverine in program history to make three appearances at the tournament. She is ranked No. 37 in singles, holding a 12-4 record in dual matches at the top two spots of the lineup. Miller earned All-Big Ten honors for the third time this season and was a two-time Big Ten Athlete of the Week.
Brown received the first singles bid of her career after coming in at No. 29 in the latest singles rankings. An All-Big Ten performer and the MVP of the Big Ten Tournament, Brown carries a 10-6 singles record in dual matches and a 21-13 overall mark. She went 9-2 at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, including a 2-0 record at the Big Ten Tournament.
Fliegner is fresh off clinching the Big Ten Tournament title for Michigan behind a three-set win at No. 3 against Ohio State. She earned All-Big Ten honors and was named to the all-tournament team at the Big Ten Tournament for the second straight season. Fliegner is ranked No. 47 in singles, entering the NCAA Tournament with a 23-8 overall singles mark. She went a perfect 5-0 in Big Ten action, carrying a 14-2 record in dual matches.
As a doubles team, Brown and Miller have been ranked No. 2 since the completion of the fall season. They are 22-7 overall as a pair, going 8-5 at the top of the lineup in dual matches. They made a run to the championship match of the ITA All-American in the fall and will be making their first appearance in the NCAA doubles tournament. By virtue of their No. 3 seed, they have secured All-America honors for the first time in their careers.
