USC men’s tennis wraps up fall competition this weekend as they travel down the 405 for the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif., Nov. 2 through Nov. 9. Representing Troy is sophomore Peter Makk in singles as well as senior Stefan Dostanic and graduate student Bradley Frye in doubles.
Kicking off action for USC will be Makk, as he’s primed for a 9 a.m., Nov. 2 first round singles match against Dusan Milanovic (Presbyterian College). Makk, who’s coming off an ITA Southwest Regional singles title, enters the weekend with momentum as he strung together six straight victories to claim the event. The No. 41 ranked player defeated two ranked opponents (No. 77 and No. 23) back-to-back to punch his ticket to this weekend’s championships.
In doubles, the No. 2 seeded team of Dostanic/Frye look to extend a five-match win streak and improve upon their 7-2 record. The USC duo earned their berth in a similar fashion to Makk, as they put together a deep run to win the Southwest Regional Championships doubles title. The pair will see action tomorrow, Nov. 2 at 4:30 p.m. against Michigan’s Fenty/Young.
