WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A trio of Duke women’s tennis standouts – Chloe Beck, Emma Jackson and Cameron Morra — advanced to the singles final on Sunday with wins against ranked opponents in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regionals in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Beck, ranked No. 5 nationally, registered a three-set win, 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-1, over NC State’s 23rd-ranked Abigail Rencheli in the A1 Bracket semifinals. With a 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 win over 42nd-ranked Ayana Akli of South Carolina, Duke’s 100th-ranked Jackson moved on to the finals of the A1 Bracket as well. The A1 Bracket finals will be a Blue Devil matchup with Beck facing Jackson on Monday at 10 a.m.
Sixth-ranked Morra registered a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over 86th-ranked Casie Wooten of Wake Forest and will face Sarah Hamner of South Carolina on Monday in the A2 Bracket final.
Duke featured two doubles teams in the finals on Sunday as well with Karolina Berankova and Ellie Coleman along with Beck and Morra competing. Berankova/Coleman dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Carson Tanguilig and Fiona Crawley of North Carolina. Beck/Morra also lost, 6-3, 6-2, to Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth of Wake Forest.
