Transfer Alejando Moreno Signs with Vols

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Alejandro Moreno will join the Tennessee men’s tennis team for the 2024-25 season, head coach Chris Woodruff announced Thursday.

The Knoxville native spent the past two seasons at Auburn, where he tallied a 33-26 record in singles and a 26-22 mark in doubles play. In 2024, he went 11-9 during the dual season in singles primarily playing at the No. 3 and 4 courts.

In his first year with the Tigers, Moreno was named to the SEC All-Freshman team, as well as being tabbed an ITA Scholar Athlete and First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll member.

“Adding local talent to our roster is very important to us,” Woodruff said. “We are very excited about Alejandro coming to Tennessee. Additionally, Alejandro has proven success in our league, and we’re looking forward to helping him throughout his development.”

During the fall slate in his sophomore campaign at Auburn, Moreno earned a career-high ITA singles ranking of 65th.

Moreno was rated as the top player in Tennessee, fourth in the southeast region and 11th in the nation coming out of high school.
