SAN DIEGO – No. 33Stanford men’s tennis fell on the road to No. 13 San Diego, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinal moves to 6-4 on the season with the result.
Stanford fell behind in doubles, falling on courts two and three. Max Basing and Nico Godsick held a 5-2 lead on court one, but could not finish the match before the completion of the bouts on courts two and three.
San Diego took all six first sets, and got out to a 3-0 lead with wins on courts three and five. The Cardinal pushed the Toreros to the brink in four second sets, including a win for Samir Banerjee, but a tiebreak win on court one sealed the result for the home team.
Stanford remains in San Diego for the Pacific Coast Doubles tournament over the weekend in La Jolla.
