Top-Ranked UNC Defeats Boston College 6-1

WEYMOUTH, Mass. —  The North Carolina women’s tennis team (21-0, 7-0 ACC), defeated No. 48 Boston College on Friday 6-1 in Weymouth, Mass. The Tar Heels picked up the doubles point before winning five-straight singles matches to clinch the victory. The win over Boston College marked 21 consecutive victories for UNC and is tied for the fifth-longest winning streak in program history.

The duo of Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty began the day with a quick 6-3 win before teammates Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig won 6-2 to secure the doubles point for North Carolina.

In singles play, No. 1 Fiona Crawley won in straight sets at No. 1 singles to give the Tar Heels a 2-0 lead. Reese Brantmeier, ranked No. 15 and competing at No. 2 singles, won two consecutive sets to give UNC a 3-0 advantage. No. 80 Elizabeth Scotty clinched the victory for North Carolina with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles to make it 4-0.

Reilly Tran and Anika Yarlagadda each recorded a point in their singles matches to give UNC its fifth and sixth point.
