WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — On the first day of competition at the 2022 ITA Regionals held at Wake Forest University, Clemson had three doubles pairs advance to the second round of play. Each of Sophia Hatton/Dani Medvedeva, Jenna Thompson/Samantha Buyckx and Cristina Mayorova/Eleni Louka won their match on Thursday.

Hatton and Medvedeva, competing in the A1 doubles draw, defeated their opponent from Coastal Carolina handily by a score of 8-2. The two had never played together, as Hatton was out most of last season due to injury. They will compete on Friday against NC State’s Miller/Najecki pairing.

Competing in the A2 draw, Thompson and Buyckx won a closely contested match against a team from Charleston Southern, 8-7 (7-2). Thompson and Buyckx were 2-2 as a pair last season, and will play Davidson’s pair of Schafer/Patel on Friday.

Mayorova/Louka won Thursday’s match 8-6 against the Coastal Carolina duo of Hollins/Steryous. They take the court on Friday against Queens University’s Tuliakova/Bertran De Belanda.

Following doubles play on Friday morning, Buyckx, Hatton, Louka, Mayorova, Medvedeva and Thompson will be in action in singles play beginning at 12:30 p.m.
