CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 37 Clemson women’s tennis team (15-11, 3-10 ACC) fell on Senior Day in its regular season finale to No. 33 Florida State by a final score of 4-1. The Tigers were unable to win the doubles point and despite their attempts to mount a comeback, the Seminoles managed to put the match away.

Prior to the match, seniors Eleni Louka and Lana Sipek were honored for their contributions to the program. They were joined by former Tigers Laura Marti and Tate Schroeder, as well as Clemson’s all-time winningest head coach in Nancy Harris.

“I want to say a special thank you to Eleni and Lana for always bringing the best version of themselves and representing Clemson with pride,” said Head Coach Amy Sargeant on her two seniors.

After Florida State won the doubles point, the Seminoles secured the next two singles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Sophia Hatton picked up a win on Court 5 to improve to 15-6 on the season, but Florida State’s Kristyna Lavickova defeated No. 94 Dani Medvedeva in a tiebreak to clinch the victory.

“Though today was a tough loss, I’m looking forward to ACCs and continuing this journey with Team 48. We will take everything we have learned this semester, playing on our terms, with confidence and a championship mindset. We are not close to being done!!”

Up next, the Tigers will take on Virginia Tech in the first round of the ACC Tournament. They will play on Wednesday, Apr. 19 in Cary, N.C. at 10 a.m. This is the third consecutive season in which the Tigers and Hokies will face off in the ACC Tournament, with Clemson winning the latest matchup 4-3 in 2022.
