CARY, N.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team (11-15, 1-11 ACC) competed against No. 5 seed and 18th nationally ranked Florida State, (18-7, 8-4 ACC) but dropped the match 4-0.
The Tigers held their own in doubles as Nini Dica and Matt Pitts were one game away from taking Court 2, but Florida State was able to win 6-3 and 6-1 on Courts 1 and 3, respectively to take the doubles point.
Matt Pitts looked solid in singles as he pushed a third set on Court 4 while Jorge Plans Gonzalez fought back in the second set, two games away from another third set, but Florida State was able to register victories on Courts 1, 3 and 5 to secure the 4-0 win.
With the loss, the Tigers finish the season with an 11-15 overall record. Clemson also made their second consecutive ACC Tournament second round appearance.
