Ojai, Calif. – The opening match of the Pac-12 tournament saw Sun Devil men’s tennis (13-11) falling against the Oregon Ducks (14-12) 4-3 that took all seven games to decide the match Wednesday afternoon at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif.
The Sun Devils failed to secure the doubles point, but victories by Murphy Cassone and Jacob Bullard, and Constantinos Koshis were the highlights of the match all winning in straight sets.
How It Happened:
- The Ducks were able to take the doubles point despite Max McKinnon and Murphy Cassone winning in domination fashion 6-0, by not giving up a game to the Ducks.
- Jacob Bullard made his day a breeze after cruising to a straight-sets victory, only giving up five games for the entire match to give the Sun Devils a crucial point, then Murphy Cassone continued his winning ways with another straight-set victory over the Ducks, winning 6-2, 6-3 to give ASU their second point of the match.
- Koshis returned to the winner’s circle with a 6-3, 6-4 victory to secure the Sun Devils’ third point of the match.
- Oregon managed to tie the match after Roi Ginat fell in straight sets and Spencer Brachman lost in a three-set thriller, then the Ducks clinched the match after Max McKinnon was unable to come back after dropping the first set.
