SEATTLE – The No. 22 Huskies (6-3) will wrap up their month-long home stretch this week as they welcome three teams to Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Dawgs were off last weekend and are looking to bounce back after dropping three matches against ranked opponents at home in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Washington will host cross-town opponent Seattle University for a mid-week match on Wednesday at 5 p.m. They will then host Portland on Friday night and San Diego State Sunday at noon at the NTC.
The Huskies have been led by graduate students Astrid Olsen and Melissa Sakar so far this year, with the pair each boasting 7-2 singles records at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively.
Alexia Jacobs is 5-1 in singles at No. 2, including a win at the National Team Indoor Championships over No. 20 Emma Charney from USC. The doubles pair of Jacobs and Olsen are leading the Dawgs at No. 1 doubles as they hold a 5-2 record, including a top-10 win over No. 6 Zyryanova/Abrams (NC State).
THE COMPETITION – SEATTLE UNIVERSITY
Seattle U is 4-3 on the season, winning its last two matches on the road against Eastern Washington (4-3) and at Gonzaga (5-2). The Huskies are 10-0 against Seattle University – nine of 10 coming in 7-0 sweeping fashion.
THE COMPETITION – PORTLAND
The Portland Pilots (5-3) are coming off a 7-0 win over Montana State last weekend. Portland has a win against a Pac-12 opponent already this year with a 4-3 win over Washington State.
Last season, the Huskies defeated Portland 6-1 at home.
THE COMPETITION – SAN DIEGO STATE
The Aztecs (5-2) have faced one Pac-12 opponent as they lost to No. 14 California last weekend, 5-2.
The Huskies are 16-3 against San Diego State, the last matchup being a 7-0 sweep in the 2016-17 season. Washington has not dropped a match to the Aztecs since the 2006-07 season.
